The most popular Hollywood films in the USSR in the 80s

Why in the 80s you ask? Just for these years it was my childhood. It was in the 80s that I often ran to the movies. First with parents, then with friends and classmates. And why exactly Hollywood? Well, firstly, about the domestic ones, I’ve also told the story under the heading "The Best Films of Soviet Cinema", and, secondly, the American gave some romance

Separate posts deserve more French and Indian films. But more about that later. Today about Hollywood products

Which do you think are the most popular American films in the 80s? Those who failed in the US hire remake of "King Kong" and its sequel "King Kong is alive." Together they gathered about 100 million viewers in 1988

The next most popular film is The Abyss, which in 1981 gathered almost 38 million viewers.

Fourth place at the "Convoy" 35.9 million viewers in 1985

Closes the top five "Man from the Star", which in 1987 gathered 35.8 million viewers

We go further

Tutsi - 34.8 million in 1984

"Death among icebergs" - 33.0 million in 1982

"Roman with a stone" - 32.7 million in 1989

"Short Circuit" - 31.7 million in 1988

"American Abduction" - 30.4 million in 1983

"Only girls in jazz" - 28.9 million when rerun in 1985

Spartak - 28.2 million when rerun in 1984

“Once in America” - 27.6 million in 1989

"Bedroom window" - 27.1 million in 1988

"Hurricane" - 25.3 million in 1982

"My Enemy" - 24.3 million in 1989

"Stuntman" - 23.9 million in 1982

I will add on my own a couple of films which, for some reason, I did not find in the list - "Flight of the Navigator"

and "Dundee Crocodile" (with continuation)

,

which, in my recollection, were very popular in 1988

Although 1988 was rich in American cinema - except for Navigator and Dundee, it was this year that we watched both King Kong and Short Circuit.
