You will not believe, but the appearance of the film “Moscow Does Not Believe in Tears” on the screens of the whole world, we owe to the usual alarm clock. Remember, these were in almost every Soviet family. But it really is. It was the idea of Katerina’s dream, 20 years long, where she falls asleep to start an alarm clock and wakes up in another series with a completely different woman, attracted Vladimir Menshov, who by then had only one, albeit quite successful, film Роз Rally. ”

The script for the film writer Valentin Chernykh wrote for the competition of scenarios about Moscow. Moreover, it was written in less than 3 weeks - the writer miraculously met the deadline for submitting material for the competition. Then the first place was not given to anyone, but the second was the script of Valentin Konstantinovich. The truth he was called then differently - "Twice Lied", and he was immediately bought by Mosfilm

But Menshov, as a director, was suggested by the scriptwriter's spouse. But except for a temporary jump with an alarm clock, and even a scam with a professorial apartment in the script, the young director did not like almost anything. The director's friends didn’t like it either, most advised not to make this film - the plot was considered not fashionable. And even his own wife, after reading it, said: "Well, Mura!"

Script writer refused to redo his creation. But Menshov, who was so keen on the idea of the alarm clock, in spite of everything and with the words "why not!" sat down for reworking and polishing the project itself.

A lot has been changed - from the drunken hockey player Gurin to the profession of Gosha (according to the scenario, he was not an "intelligent mechanic", but an electric welder at a construction site). As a result, the script has increased by one third. And we got a film that millions of viewers still enjoy watching.
