It became a textbook thanks to the novel by Furmanov and, in fact, to the Vasilyevs film. But it's not about this, but about the ending of the film. Did you know that he had 3 alternative finals?

So, the filmmakers are brothers Vasiliev (by the way, do you know that they are not brothers?), Expecting numerous critics to comment on the too-pessimistic finale of the film, they shot two more versions of the ending.
In the first in Lbishchensku the Reds march. The camera stops at the wounded Anka and Petka passing by. Joy is on their faces, behind the scenes are the words of Chapaev: "Happy, I say, you and Petka. Young. All life is ahead."
The second alternative final was filmed in Stalin’s homeland, in the city of Gori. Anka plays with children in the apple orchard, next to Petka, who already heads the rifle division. And again - the voice of Chapaev: "Here, get married, you will work together. The war will end, life will be great. Do you know what life will be? You don’t have to die!"

The third final appeared in 1941, 40 days after the start of World War II. And its main feature - Chapaev survived in it! He did not just save himself from machine-gun fire, but when he got ashore he was hit ... in the summer of 1941. He was met by two Red Army men — a cavalryman and a tankman. "Well, what have you got here? Have the Germans climbed out again?" - refers to them Vasily Ivanovich. Having received an affirmative answer, he puts on his cap with a burka and commands: "Go horseback!"

In fact, this is a fragment of the campaign film "Chapaev with us." He was shot by director Vladimir Petrov in the early days of the war and was not intended to change the final film of the Vasilyevs. His real goal is to raise the morale of the Red Army fighters.
