Why Svetlana Druzhinina took off "Midshipmen, forward!"

The story of the famous movie about midshipmen began with a phone call. On January 1, 1983 Svetlana Druzhinina was telephoned by an unknown woman and offered to get acquainted with her unpublished novel, from which one can make a wonderful scenario of an adventure film.

Nina Sorotokina, and it was she who called, insisted at the meeting and gave Druzhina a rather heavy red folder. But Svetlana Sergeevna, despite her personal meeting, was down to business, and she, having brought home this manuscript, abandoned her and successfully forgot about her.

Remembering about the manuscript helped an accident - in the apartment Druzhinina there was a fire. And among the little things that were preserved from fire, water and foam, this folder was found. With the words "good manuscripts do not burn," Druzhinina decided, nevertheless, to get acquainted with the contents

In addition, for Sorotokinu Yuri Nagibin, who knew her by seminars in the writers' union, was engaged. Nina Sorotokina, although she worked at that time as a teacher in a technical school (teaching students the basics of water and sewerage), was published since 1976

The novel fell in love with Druzhinina, and she decided to film. She once again met with the writer, and they sat down together for the script. Which, it should be noted, then mercilessly edited by the same Yuri Nagibin. He simply threw out "all unnecessary", cutting it by half.

And the name ... The manuscript was called "Three from navigatorskoy school" (apparently by analogy with the "Three Musketeers"). But Druzhinina, apparently decided that this analogy may not play into the hands of the new film, it will be compared with it (and later will generally be called "our version of the" Three Musketeers "). And then in the title of the film, she decided to insert one of the favorite phrases of the writer Veniamin Kaverina, with whom she was friendly. He was very fond of saying: "Come on, midshipmen, go ahead!" And while working on the script, Svetlana remembered this phrase and decided to call this future film this tale.

Well, to play the trio of these same cadets from the navigational school, Druzhinina called Mikhail Mukasey, Yuri Moroz and Sergei Zhigunov. What? But what about Haratyan and Shevelkov? And about how exactly they became famous midshipmen I already told in a post Who should play famous midshipmen
