Yuri Nikulin on the set of the film "To me, Mukhtar!" came through the author of the story, on which the film was shot. It was Israel Metter, after watching the movie "When the Trees were Big", offered Nikulin's candidacy to the director. He agreed to try, although by that time another actor had already been approved for the role (in the photo, Yuri Nikulin and Dake, 1964, a photo of Galina Kmit / RIA Novosti)
Semyon Tumanov met with Yuri Vladimirovich and first asked him if he liked animals, and in particular dogs. Receiving an affirmative answer, he offered him the role of the policeman Glazychev. "But I can not play a policeman," he heard back. "Do not you like the police?" "No," answered Nikulin, "but judge for yourself, what right do I have to play a policeman, if in the last two films I've been acting as a rogue?"
Well, then went the preparation. Nikulin was given a uniform that he wore even on the street to get used to. In the mornings he went to a dog nursery, fed dogs. Several times even went to a real police operation. He was assigned as a consultant by the Hero of the Soviet Union, militia captain Sergei Semenovich Podushkin, who seriously and thoroughly prepared the actor for a new role.

It was only when the time came for the shooting that they were in jeopardy - the dogs that performed any commands, flatly refused to act after switching on the lighting and windblown - imitating a snow storm. And then someone remembered that not long ago a Kiev engineer offered to shoot his clever dog. Since the situation was almost hopeless, they decided to invite them to the samples. And did not lose out - the dog Dyke was the smartest, and most importantly, and his ear did not lead to the roaring wind.
The owner of the dog, Mikhail Davidovich Dligach, at the very beginning addressed Nikulin with an unusual request: "I ask that you call me simply Misha, and I'll call you Yura." I need to agree on this right away, and not because I want to be with you on a short leg, it's necessary for him, "he nodded to the sheepdog," and we'll be on "you." The dog should immediately know your name .Your Vladimirovich-it's hard for her to remember. When you call me Misha, she will understand that you are addressing to me, and again - do not offer him any food and do not call him, or he will throw himself at you "

This is how Yury Vladimirovich Nikulin himself remembered these shootings
"From the first minutes of my acquaintance, I realized that Mikhail Dligach refers to his dog as a man, and he did not doubt that she understands everything people talk about. At the same time, I noticed that the dog is indeed instantly performing any of its commands , responds to the intonation of the voice.
I remembered that I was asked not to give anything to the dog. But all the same he pulled a piece of sausage from his briefcase and looked at the dog. He, naturally, turned in my direction, looked at the sausage, then caught a glimpse of me and turned away. I ate the sausage myself.
At the studio, they continued to shoot scenes without the participation of a dog. But nevertheless, for Dake to get used to me gradually, he was brought to the pavilion. In the course of the scene, I was sitting at the table, while Mikhail Diligach was telling Dyke:
"To sit with Yura."
The dog approached me and sat next to me.
"Let him sit with you," said Dligach. - It does not matter that he does not act. You need to get used to each other. Dake will remember your scent, gradually he will consider you his. After all, you in many scenes will have to be there.

In the break on vacation between the shooting of the film "To me, Mukhtar!" Yuri Nikulin and Dake, 1964
During the lunch break the dog went with us to the dining room. I ate, and she was sitting next to me.
Toward evening, Dligach said:
- Tomorrow bring a couple of sosisochek.
Next day I went in with Dyagach to a special room where Dake was. He saw me and growled.
"Sit down," said Dligach. - Yura, take out the sausages and give me.
I handed the sausages to the owner. He handed them to the dog. Dake began to eat.
"You see," said Mikhail, turning to Dake, "this is Yura brought you sausages, Yura."
The next day they told me to bring the liver. I complied with the request. It all happened again: first I gave the liver to the owner, and the one, saying: "This is Yura brought you a liver, Yura," Dake told her. Then I brought an amateur sausage. Again the same ceremony. I could not restrain myself and asked:
"Why can not I give food myself?"
"He does not take other people's hands," answered Delygach calmly. "He can throw himself away."
A week later I entered the room where the owner and the dog were, and heard a cheerful cry:
- Look, look, Yura! Michael pointed at Dake's tail. - You see?!
And I saw that the tip of the dog's tail is moving.
"Well, wow," I remarked, "it took a week for the tip of the tail to jerk. How long does it take to wag the tail?
"Time, time, and everything will be done," Delygach assured.
Indeed, two days later I gave Dake sausage for the first time. The dog looked at me in bewilderment.
"Take it, take it," said Delygach, "this is Yura brought to you." Yura can be taken.
Dake reluctantly began to eat.
And somehow Dligach put his hand on the dog's head and asked me to put my palm on top. On the sly Michael, he removed his hand from under me, and my hand was on the dog's head. Dake looked at me and growled softly.
"Sit down!" Calmly ... - said Dyagach. "Easy, Dyke."
I had a feeling that a dynamo was working under my hand.

Once we walked along the corridor of "Mosfilm". The lead from Dake was held by Dligach. Unbeknownst to him, he handed it to me, and he stopped. The dog went ahead, not knowing that the leash was mine. So we walked about ten meters. Suddenly the dog stopped, turned and saw who was leading it.
"Dyke!" Calm down! Shouted Delygach. - Walk straight. This is Jura. This is Jura, who brings you sausages and sausage, go ahead.
Reluctantly the dog took a few steps.
- Tell her "forward". Give the team, - asked Dligach.
- Forward, forward ... - I did not very confidently command.
Reluctantly, the dog went ahead. The leash was tightly wrapped around my arm. Then Dvigach whistled. And the dog so rushed to the owner, that I fell, and she dragged me a few meters.
Gradually, Dake and I became friends. And, finally, the last test: I was put in a cage with a dog, invited lighting, drivers, carpenters and asked them to beat the cage with sticks, as if they were attacking us. Dake furiously threw himself on the bars and furiously barked. He defended me.
"You see," said Dlygach to me later, "since he defends you, then he really admitted it." Now you can start shooting "

Sheepdog named Dake from h / f "To me, Mukhtar!" visiting Yuri Nikulin at home. 1964 year
In the summer, when the film was already filming, Nikulin's family went to the dacha. And Yuri Vladimirovich invited Delygach to move with Dake to himself.
Somehow about five o'clock in the morning through a dream I heard, as Dake, knocking on a parquet by paws, has entered into my room and has started to pull off from me a blanket. I could not understand anything.
- What do you want? I asked the dog.
Dake looked at me and put his face to the window.
I realized that the dog was asking for a walk. "Wow," I thought. "The owner is sleeping next door, and she came for me." I was pleased. I got up, quickly dressed and led Dake out into the street.
Since then, Dake woke me up every morning, and we walked with him.
When the shooting of the film was over, Nikulin, who was very attached to Dyck, told Dygach that the dog loved him more than the owner. Dligach was surprised: "Why did you take this?" "And since the last three weeks, Dake every morning woke me up! And he asked me to go for a walk with him. Although you, the owner, slept in the next room. "The dligach laughed and said:" So you know - every morning he woke me up, and I told him: "Go to Yura. He will take a walk with you "
