For the most part, these were either screen versions of famous fairy tales and literary works, or ideologically correct films about contemporary children. It's about a movie that was rented a week after the premiere. At least in the central cinemas (they say that in some regions it managed to scroll about a month). The children were delighted. But only those who did not have time to look at it knew about it only from the stories of "lucky ones". And the younger generation about this film either did not know at all (for example, as your humble servant), or saw it accidentally in small regional cinemas
This is a film by Alexander Stefanovich "Dear Boy", released in 1975. To say that this film stood out against the general background - nothing to say. The first (and probably the only) Soviet kinokomiks. A parody of criminal detectives of those years. Psychedelic in the design of musical inserts. And the musical inserts with the music of David Tukhmanov to the words of Leonid Derbenev performed by the group "Vodograi" are not typical for children's films of those years

And this is just a couple of excerpts. And you see, it was done in 1974. The film is absolutely innovative for its time. And not only for our cinematography. I would not be surprised if I find out that Tarantino was able to watch this film as a child (and foreign films were shown, this can be judged by the presence of foreign posters). It is based on a play by Sergei Mikhalkov (written explicitly on the motives of the "Leader of the Redskins" O. Henry). But only the director was able to so accurately re-emphasize the accents, that the source does not remember.
So what did this film hurt for? No, officially he was not banned and did not lie on the shelf. Occasionally, he popped up in some small regional cinemas. But he was not shown on TV (although there may have been a couple of shows all the time, but I did not get it), although on a vacation children's films were then played regularly. So why could not all the spectators see it.
Here, most likely, it's not about innovation. Namely, in these same, incorrect (from the point of view of ideology) placed emphasis. After all, these films have always denounced the Western way of life, and this film was rather the opposite. Yes, it has the friendship of peoples (and the output of the film coincided with the warming in Soviet-American relations). But one friendship, apparently, was not enough. Yes, there's even a new aggravation of relations with the States in the late 70's also apparently played out of the film
But the film is worth it to see it at least once. I did not regret the time spent.
