Painted Detochkin, or why they colored "Beware of the car"

Yesterday, on the anniversary of Eldar Ryazanov, the First Channel showed a color version of the movie "Beware of the car." Another famous film, which viewers are accustomed to seeing in black and white format, has acquired a color version. This is the sixteenth film of the Soviet era, which has undergone such modernization.

The first colorization was subjected to a multi-part film "Seventeen Moments of Spring". But only the viewer did not accept the "colored" Stirlitz. In many respects it contributed to the fact that the film was not only painted, but edited - some episodes were shortened, some were cut out altogether. In addition, the frame was cut from above and from below, making it widescreen

The next colorization was "Leonid Bykov, the old people go to battle." This coloring was already warmer - many knew that the director wanted to shoot this film in color, but he was not given money for color film.

Since then, the restoration and coloration of old films has been put almost to the flow. To date, she was subjected to "Cinderella", "Foundling", "Volga, Volga", "Jolly Fellows", "Spring on Zarechnaya Street", "Three Poplars at Plyushchikha", "Officers", "Circus", "Come Tomorrow ... "," Heavenly slowness "," Father of the Soldier "," Arshin Mal Alan "," Kashchei the Immortal "and yesterday's" color premiere "-" Beware of the car "

And I'm still on the line "Unbeatable", "I'm walking around Moscow," "Girls," "Golden Calf," "Spring," and "Alexander Nevsky."

I saw yesterday the color version of "Beware of the car." And I want to say that I liked it. Quite carefully treated the material. It is said that Ryazanov himself put his hand in this coloring - the work on the project began in 2014 and the director together with the production designer Pavel Lipatov was engaged in installing color solutions: what should costumes and other attributes, trolleybuses, streets look like. Lipatov made sketches, drew and sent them to Ryazanov for approval

By the way, you can compare how accurately painted Detochkin. There are two color photographs from the filming, made by the correspondent of the magazine "LIFE" Dmitry Kessel

And why do we need colorized versions of old movies? I will give you an example from my practice. I have one friend, a big fan of Ryazanov's work. But so she developed that she never watched "Beware of the car." Well, this happened. And my question is "why does not she look at him now?" - responds that she watches only movies with her daughter, and that can not be persuaded to watch black and white films - does not perceive the modern generation of cinema without color.

So maybe it's just for the modern young spectator to be able to join the Soviet film classics and need these colorings?
