Two screen versions of the novel by Ilf and Petrov "12 chairs." Disputes about which one is better, will not abate, probably never. Someone is closer to the two-part production of Leonid Gaidai, and the other is a four-part TV version of Mark Zakharov. Someone considers the best Bender Gomiashvili, while others do not recognize the other, except Mironov
In general, if for me, then it is not absolutely correct to compare these two films categorically. Although they are shot in one novel, they are completely different. Different even by genre. You say that both comedies? Yes. But comedies also differ. Gaidai took off the classic eccentric comedy, which he was a great master. The genre of Zakharov's TV version I even find it difficult to accurately name. The musical is probably the closest definition. Zakharov himself called this film "a literary and musical composition with a text that is not a direct speech"
But since they are still compared, let's compare
Let's start with the Great Combinator
Gaidai for the role of Ostap Bender, after long trials in which almost all male actors of the right age probably participated, approved Archil Gomiashvili. Zakharov took Andrei Mironov without any trial
Ippolit Matveyevich Vorobyaninov
Gaidai played his role Sergei Filippov. At Zakharov's - Anatoly Papanov
By the way, an interesting detail: both Mironov and Papanov auditioned for these roles with Gaidai, but they did not convince the director. Zakharov took them without samples: "Mironov and Papanov are not the people who should be tried"
Father Fyodor
Two brilliant works - Mikhail Pugovkin and Rolan Bykov
janitor Tikhon
Yuri Nikulin against Nikolai Skorobogatov
Blue Thieves Alchen
Grigory Spiegel and Oleg Tabakov
Madame Gritsatsueva
Natalia Krachkovskaya and Lydia Fedoseyeva-Shukshina
Locksmith Polesov
Nikolai Gorlov and Saveliy Kramarov
Kolya and Lisa Kalachev
Victor Pavlov and Natalya Varley against Victor Proskurin and Tatyana Bozhok
Ellochka the ogre
Natalia Vorobyova and Elena Shanina
engineer Shchukin
Igor Yasulovich and Alexander Abdulov
one-eyed chess player
Saveliy Kramarov and Alexander Shirvindt
Metchnik Metchnikov
Georgy Vitsin and Lev Borisov
engineer Bruns and his wife
Vladimir Etush and Nina Grebeshkova against Mikhail Svetin and Galina Sokolova
Well, I think there are enough characters
It should be noted that 10 actors played in both versions (and two even the same role)
Most notable, this is of course George Vitsin, who played the monk Mechnikov at Gaidai and the grave deeds of the master Bezenchuk at Zakharov
Saveliy Kramarov - one-eyed chess player at Gaidai and locksmith Polesov at Zakharov
Gregory Spiegel - Blue thief Alchen at Gaidai and editor of the newspaper "Stanok" at Zakharov
Yuri Medvedev - theater in the performance of the theater "Columbus" at Gaidai and chairman of the commission on the motor ship at Zakharov
Well, since we still compare, let's then vote
